Choose Wisely
Building a custom home is about much more than finding someone who can follow a set of plans.
A good builder should be able to look at those plans, understand what you are trying to accomplish, and help you identify opportunities or potential problems before construction ever begins.
I refer to that as professional care.
Professional care means a builder is not simply showing up to perform a job. It means using experience to look out for the homeowner’s best interests throughout the entire process.
An experienced builder has seen what happens when certain decisions are not made early enough. They have seen layouts that looked good on paper but could have worked better with a small change. They understand which decisions may create unnecessary costs later and which details deserve more attention before construction starts.
That experience should be part of what you are paying for.
